don't worry Rach *hugs* I'm sure nothing will happen like that will happen again. I hope. I'll be the community police! Reading through all comments.
Prizes? YES PRIZES WOULD BE AWESOME 8D But you should also leave a limit, that way people don't post like 10,000 drabbles to enhance their chance of winning
oh yea, i will LOL. TRUST ME! lol
and be sure that they're prettyful banners 8D that's always good.
all anonymous comments from this point forward will be screened. They will be sent directly to me and I will have to approve them before they are admitted into the community.
This just may be me being ignorant, but I thought that screened comments could easily be approved by the person who made the post to which said screened comments were made, as opposed to a moderator or anything.
Then again, none of the communities I moderate or own have screened comments as a pre-set function, so I wouldn't know. My experience with screened comments is simply when the OP specifies that all comments be screened to the post being made, not just anonymous ones. I have friends who have all anonymous or at least all non-friend comments screened, but that's for personal LJs, not communities.
Not being antagonistic, simply making an observation and getting longwinded in the process ^_~
yea. i'm not sure if it'll be sent to me or the one making the posts, either way, they'll have to be approved by someone, and if i see there is a problem 'll just disable anonymous.... so either way it kinda works out if the person who made the post knows about it
In my experience it goes to whoever would normally get notification for the comment (OP, person being replied to, etc.), except that only those people can see it until it's unscreened. So if an anonymous person replies to a comment someone made and anonymous comment screening is turned on, then the original poster and that someone both receive notification (if they have LJ comment reception notification turned on, that is) via email of the comment, but they and any moderators are the only ones who can see it, or something. And in less complicated situations, where the anonymouse is simply replying to the post itself, only the OP will be notified, and the only other people who can see it would be any moderators ^_~

yea.... i figured that might be the case, either way though, it wont show up on the entries until approved, and if I see them I'll take care of them. And I've already told the girl that the guy with the nasty messages was after, that if he kees on I'll just disable them alltogether.

yea that was me LOL... sorry I forgot I wasnt signed in. lol
He's the reason all of my drabbles have the comments shut off. I really had hoped that with no way of harassing me personally, he would take it elsewhere. I'm truly sorry he started in on Ning like that. That's also why I haven't been doing drabbles lately. I like feedback and with the comments he was sending me, it just stopped being worth it. Really, I'm super sorry he decided to bring his personal hatred of myself into this comm. Maybe now I'll start posting drabbles again.
There were problems with him posting from his journal and that stopped after I banned him (I don't know if banning someone includes them being banned from comm entries or if he just stopped using his journal).
Rachel, really, I didn't think it was going to get this bad.
its ok. we solved the problem. Post all you want. All anonymous comments are gonna have to be approved (i dunno if its really gonna be sent to me, or to the author, but either way, just ignore them) and if its still a problem, just let me know and I'll completely disable them. And if he starts doin it under his screennname, again let m know and i'll ban him. There is no sense in him doing that crap and I'm not gonna just sit around and let him. But really, its cool, I know you didnt mean for any of it to happen, it was totally not your fault, and I'm sure Ning isnt holding it against you either.
I'm sure she's not and I know it's not my fault.
And I will start posting once I get home again (funeral on the other side of the country).
aww. well, i'm sorry about the funeral, but i cant wait until we get to read some more o your wonderful drabbles!
Don't worry! There's no need to apologize ^^
I really don't feel that bad about the conflict considering he deserved it. And in his userinfo he seemed to be trying to make a really large point in hating you
*hugs* I hope your problems end soon :)
Ooh, has he added more to his hatred of me? *laughs* Boy is a psychopath.
*hugs back* I hope they will, too.

I realize you want to keep anonymous commenting an option, but disabling that feature could solve a lot of your problems. This is just a suggestion, but if I was filtering out troublemakers, I'd restrict posting access to members only. Most users won't bother posting if they're not a regular (i.e. member), and those who would are probably (not always) looking for trouble. I have no experience whatsoever with managing communities, so my advice isn't worth much—if anything—though I thought I'd throw my two cents in anyway.
Whatever the drama (I missed most of it), I'm glad things are returning to normal. And I hope these "cautionary measures" weed out any potential problems the community might face in the future.

Re: Some thoughts...
yea, i know restricting it would solve the problem, but i also know of some people who get their friends who dont have accounts to read their entries and i'd like for those types of people to be able to comment if they so desire. but if any of the drama ever happens again, trust me, they will be disabled alltogether
